Skin Treatments

We have a wide range of skin treatments which can help rejuvenate your skin with targeted treatments. Many of these can only be delivered by a trained medical professional as they penetrate and treat deep layers of the skin for improved outcomes. Our treatments vary from lighter facial masks for a glow and improve skin integrity, to deeper chemical peels. Deeper peels or treatments such as micro needling can help with scarring, stimulate collagen production and even skin tone.

Microneedling

Microneedling is the process of using tiny needles to create tiny minor and temporary micro-injuries to the skin in a controlled manner. This stimulates the skin to start the healing process by producing new collagen and elastin to help repair damage and tighten the skin, reducing fine lines and scars. Over time the healing process rejuvenates and strengthens the skin. Blood flow increases resulting in a healthy glow and skin cell turnover becomes more effective, thus improving skin texture and decreasing pore size.

Skin Pen

We use a medical grade microneedling device called SkinPen® which is a top rated, FDA approved microneedling pen. It’s precise needles can be adjusted in depth to make controlled microchannels in the skin depending on the skin concern and site of treatment.

Microneedling can be used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring or scarring from other causes, stretch marks and overall skin quality. It can be combined with other treatments such as mesotherapy or chemical peels as the microchannels created allow deeper penetration of the active ingredients.

Microneedling FAQ

Is Microneedling painful?

You may experience some temporary discomfort which will subside post treatment. We can use topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) prior to treatment if you wish.

How long does it take to see results from microneedling treatment?

The results will be most apparent 12 weeks after your treatment course. The treatment stimulates remodelling of collagen fibres, a natural process which generally takes around 12 weeks.

How many treatments do I need?

This will depend on your skin condition or concern. These can vary from 3-6 treatments and will be discussed at your consultation. The treatment increases skin cell turnover and the natural adult skin cell cycle is about 30 days so it is recommended to allow this period between treatments.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet rich plasma therapy is a from of regenerative medicine that harnesses the body’s natural ability to repair itself, by using your own platelets to accelerate healing and rejuvenation. It has the benefit of being natural is it is using your body’s own blood and growth factors.

Plasma is the liquid portion of blood and is composed of water and proteins. Platelets promote healing and are a key component in the process of blood clotting at a wound site. Platelets have key ingredients needed for healing tissue including growth factors which regenerate the cells of the body. Platelet Rich Plasma is concentrated plasma and contains approximately five times the normal number of platelets found in normal circulating blood.

A sample of blood is taken from your arm just like a normal blood test. This sample is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the blood into its different components. From this we can separate the plasma which is concentrated with platelets. These activated platelets are then injected into the target area. This releases growth factors that stimulate and increase the number of reparative cells your body produces.

PRP has a wide range of applications in medicine. In aesthetic medicine it can be used for rejuvenation, treat signs of ageing and scarring. It is increasingly being used as a treatment for loss and thinning. However it can also be used to help accelerate the healing of musculoskeletal injuries, burns, wounds, as well as dental applications.

Chemical Peels

Skin peels are resurfacing treatments that remove older and dead skin cells from the skin’s surface revealing young and healthy skin cells underneath. Each peel will also have it’s own specific active ingredients which will benefit your skin, and we will tailor your peel programme based on your specific skin concern. Our chemical peels are highly customisable and we can make a bespoke treatment plan for you. We will take into consideration your lifestyle demands and your wish to avoid ‘downtime’ with visible redness or peeling after your treatment.

Composition

Chemical Peels use acids at a specific and controlled strength to break down the bonds between the upper skin cells, encouraging the top layers to slough off (peel). We can perform a variety of peels from superficial to deep, which can only be performed by medical professionals to these depts. This can help to stimulate collagen and repair and reduce fine lines, wrinkles, pores, acne, scarring, excess oil, pigmentation, uneven skin tone and rosacea.

Chemical Peel FAQ

Do chemical peels burn your face?

No, we assess very carefully to ensure your suitability in a thorough and individual consultation. You may feel temporarily sensitive but this will subside after treatment.

How long do these treatments take?

This depends on the treatment and the area being treated. Allow 60-90minutes.

How frequently should I have a skin peel?

This depends on what peel you are having and your specific skin concern. A superficial peel would ideally be performed monthly as your skin cells renew every 30 days or so but a deeper peel would usually be performed every 6-9 months.

Will my skin actually peel off?

Some superficial peels don’t cause any visible peeling, while others cause some mild peeling. Medical grade skin peels do cause your skin to peel. The more visible the peeling, the better the result.

Can I have injectable treatments on the same day as my peel?

No, we recommend that these be administered 2 weeks before or after a skin peel.
