ENT procedures and Treatments

Dr McGreevy is a GP who has many years of experience in Ear, Nose, and Throat and continues to work in NHS ENT clinics alongside ENT Consultants. Lecale Clinic is equipped with the expertise and equipment to assist in the diagnosis and management of common ear nose and throat problems such as ear infections, epistaxis, throat infections, rhinitis and rhinosinusitis. In circumstances where we are not able to fully resolve your issue we can signpost and/or refer you for imaging or to the appropriate consultant and / or hospital either privately or within the NHS depending on your preference.

General ENT

General ENT complaints such as sore throats, hoarseness, ear and nasal complaints. Lecale Clinic is equipped with a high quality, industry leading endoscope which allows us to look around your nose, the back of your nose and down into your voice box.

Nasal Cautery

The nose has a very rich blood supply. Sometimes the blood vessels can become irritated or larger and bleed very easily. Carter can be an effective treatment for nose bleeds which is safe, comfortable and can be completed within a single appointment.

Endoscopic Ear Wax Removal and Microsuction

Ear wax is a completely normal and natural occurrence for humans and many other mammals. We have little control over the amount of ear wax production and the type of ear wax we produce is often genetically controlled. A build up can often be prevented by avoiding the use of cotton buds and using olive oil to help soften hard wax. Unfortunately many people still develop a build up of wax despite this. Contributing factors may include a narrow ear canal, or the shape of the ear canal, production of harder, dry wax, skin problems including eczema or psoriasis, excess hair within the ear canal or the use of hearing aids or ear buds.

For many years people have been getting their ears ‘syringed’ or irrigated with water for the treatment of ears blocked with wax. However this procedure is ‘blind’ in that while the ear is being flushed with water, it is not done under direct vision. There have been cases of trauma or permanent damage to the ear in the form of a perforated ear drum. Dr McGreevy will use a camera so that wax can be removed from your ear canal under direct vision. This is a much safer procedure which most patients prefer. Foreign bodies such as hearing aid parts or cotton bud tips can also be removed. Some people may have an infection in their ear canal, debris from the infection can be suctioned clear and appropriate treatment then prescribed.

Prior to microsuction we recommend the use of wax softening drops in the form of oil or sodium bicarbonate for 2-3 days.

I had a consultation with Angela this morning for my 18 month old toddler and she was simply amazing. I thought examining him would have been almost impossible but her patience and caring nature knows no bounds. She was just fabulous and has given a very worried mummy great peace of mind. She even took the time to advise me on my skincare, couldn’t be more grateful. A fantastic, modern and professional private clinic. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Hi Angela. I thought you might be interested to see the difference the profhilo has made already. This was me this morning just after my skincare routine without makeup. Totally blown away with the results so far and looking forward to my second treatment. I'm so happy with all the work you have done so far, the fillers in my chin have finally settled (I'm hoping that as they took a little longer to settle, that means they will last longer) and I love the difference the chin has made to my profile. As you said I didn't realise I needed it done until I saw the change it made. And as for the botox, I'm definitely a convert and will be back for regular top ups! Thank you again Angela.
